🌱 🥒 🧪 AGRICULTURE IN ACTION! 🦌 🌿

Turner County High School agriculture classes are in FULL SWING, and our students are learning by doing!

Students in Agriscience, Wildlife Management, and General Horticulture have been busy with some pretty amazing hands-on experiences. They’ve explored water movement through color-changing experiments with white roses 🌹, made their own pickles 🥒, created biofuel samples 🧪, and tested alternatives to citric acid for keeping sliced apples fresh. 🍎

🦌 Wildlife Management students also traveled to Tyson Steel in Doerun, Georgia, where they had the opportunity to view an expansive private collection of taxidermy and natural history.

🌿 Meanwhile, our Horticulture students are learning to identify a variety of plants and putting their propagation skills to work—doubling our supply of ferns!

From the lab to the greenhouse and even out in the community, our agriculture students are gaining real-world experience and having fun along the way!

💙🧡 Hands-on learning is growing at TCHS! 🌱

🇺🇸 A Special Gift to Turner County Schools! 🇺🇸

Turner County Schools extends a heartfelt THANK YOU to American Legion Post 98 for their generous donation of 60 American flags, poles, and brackets—enough to place an American flag in every classroom across our district!

After recognizing the need, Melissa Folsom reached out to Jimmy Whiddon, Commander of American Legion Post 98, and the members of Post 98 stepped up in a big way. The donation was officially presented during the September 10th Turner County Board of Education meeting.

We are incredibly grateful to these veterans for their service to our country and for their continued support of our students, schools, and community. ❤️🤍💙

These flags will serve as a daily reminder of the freedoms we enjoy and the brave men and women who have served to protect them.

Thank you, American Legion Post 98! 🇺🇸

🚀 We’re on our way to great things at Turner County High School!

TCHS is excited to now offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses, giving our students even more opportunities to challenge themselves academically, strengthen critical-thinking skills, and potentially earn college credit while still in high school.

This is another exciting step forward as we continue expanding opportunities and preparing our Titans for success beyond graduation. 💙🧡

The future is bright at TCHS — and we’re just getting started!

🔬🕵️‍♀️ Forensics in Action! 🕵️‍♂️🔬

Who knew your own hair could tell a story? 👀🧬

Today in Forensic Science, Mrs. Warren's students got hands-on experience examining their own hair under the microscope! 🔬 Students observed hair structure, looked closely at the cuticle and medulla, and practiced making observations like real forensic scientists.

It’s one thing to read about evidence in a textbook, but it’s another thing to see it up close and investigate it for yourself! 🧪🔍

Learning science one piece of evidence at a time! 🧑‍🔬🔬

🎓 Georgia Tech Visits TCHS! 🐝

Turner County High School was excited to welcome a representative from Georgia Tech to campus! Our students had the opportunity to learn more about Georgia Tech’s academic programs, admissions process, campus life, and the many opportunities available after graduation.

College visits like this give our students a valuable chance to explore their options, ask questions, and begin thinking about the path that’s right for their future.

Thank you to Georgia Tech for spending time with our Titans and helping them see all the possibilities ahead! 🧡💙

Instructional consultant John O’Connor of Great Instruction, Inc. recently visited Turner County Middle School and Turner County High School to conduct classroom observations and provide instructional feedback. His work with our schools focuses on strengthening instructional practices through meaningful student practice, purposeful feedback, and strategies that keep students actively engaged in the learning process. These classroom visits also provide an opportunity to identify areas of strength and determine where additional support can have the greatest impact. During his visit, O’Connor focused on the importance of practice turns and feedback cycles, giving students frequent opportunities to demonstrate their learning, receive timely feedback, and use that feedback to continue improving. His visit is just one part of this ongoing work. O’Connor will return in the coming weeks to provide professional learning for teachers and work alongside them in classrooms to put these strategies into practice. This continued support will allow teachers to see the strategies in action and consider how they can be incorporated into daily instruction. Turner County Schools appreciates this partnership and the opportunity to continue investing in strong teaching and meaningful learning experiences for our students.
