Mrs. Guess’ American Government class recently had the opportunity to welcome back former State Representative Clay Pirkle to his alma mater! 🇺🇸
Representative Pirkle spent time with students sharing insight into the legislative process, explaining how a bill becomes a law, and providing valuable knowledge about how our government works. His presentation was both informative and engaging, and students truly enjoyed learning from his real-world experience.

On March 18th, Mrs. Guess’ Personal Finance and Economics classes had a fantastic opportunity to visit South Georgia Banking Company in Ashburn!
Branch Manager Brad Christian graciously welcomed our students and shared some eye-opening insights about banking basics and the serious impacts of identity theft.
The visit kicked off with a hands-on lesson in how to complete a deposit slip and write a check — for many students, it was their very first time! Mr. Christian patiently walked them through each step, explaining what every line on a check means.
He also shared valuable advice about digital payment platforms like Cash App, Apple Pay, and PayPal, helping students understand the pros and cons of each.
From credit scores to interest rates, the students had great discussions and asked thoughtful questions. It was a day full of learning and real-world knowledge!

SRTC has launched a student AWS chapter on the Tifton campus—one of only a few in Georgia—and our TCHS AWS members attended their very first meeting!
Students had the incredible opportunity to learn from Mr. Robert Trudelle, a former Delta Airlines welding leader, who shared insights on the industry, discussed scholarships, and led an aluminum TIG welding demo. Even better—students got hands-on, one-on-one time to try it themselves!
They also heard from Jake Rice, owner of Advanced Millwright & Fabrication and a proud Turner County native, who shared his journey of building a successful welding business right here in our community. He even brought his welding rig and equipment for students to see up close!
We are so proud of how well our students represented TCHS—they did amazing and had a great time!
Special congratulations to Quentin Davis, who was elected Vice-Chair of the chapter! 👏 He continues to shine after earning an AWS scholarship last semester and is already making big moves in the welding world!
